Albert keeps small plain-text logs on your PC. They are often the fastest way for me to find out what happened.
Albert keeps only the current run and the previous run. Restarting once preserves the problem run as the previous run. Restarting twice overwrites it.
Open the Troubleshooting page in Albert. Under Gather support logs, select Create support ZIP.
When the ZIP is ready, select Open ZIP location. Albert includes the current and previous server logs and event histories that are available. The ZIP stays on your PC until you choose to share it.
Select Open Albert folder, or copy this path into the address bar of any Explorer window and press Enter:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Albert
These are the four files to collect. Some may not be there, which is fine — send what is available.
Select the files, right-click, and choose Compress to ZIP file.
You can attach the ZIP in the #albert-bugs-and-requests Discord channel. Files posted there are visible to other members of the Albert Discord.
If you would rather send it privately, email it to albert@fflyingllama.com.
Please include:
The ZIP may contain your Windows username inside file paths, local device addresses, and airports from the flight plan. It does not include recordings, your license key, settings, or browser profile.
You can open the files in Notepad and read them before sharing them.
Albert does not automatically upload its logs or the support ZIP. License checks send your license key and Albert version, but no logs or flight data. The ZIP reaches me only if you choose to share it.
Detailed recording is normally off. Turn it on only when I ask you to reproduce a problem that needs more information.
Detailed recordings use about 80 MB for every hour Albert is connected. They are not included in the regular support ZIP. While recording is on, Albert keeps the newest 5 GB of finished recordings and deletes the oldest recordings beyond that limit.
Do not send the recordings folder unless I specifically ask for it.
